Chapter 5

That means you were not supposed to be here at all! Your memory took you from hours and hours ago that Arthur did mention that the necklace could not be removed from you. You checked to see if it was true. You tried putting it off through your head but it seemed that the silver metal string was too small. You tried finding a lock but there was none at all. On second thought, you recalled that when you found this necklace and put it on your neck, the silver metallic string was still quite long. Now, the line was mysteriously short. How did that even happen?

Is this some sort of cursed necklace or something?

Oh for goodness's effing sake! No! You are cursed!

You weakly fell to your knees. You would rather choose to have your death than be cursed.

"(Y/n)-chan, is there something the matter?" Kiku anxiously asked when you fell to your knees suddenly.

"Oh, Kiku… Why didn't I realize sooner that I was cursed? The necklace cursed me…" you said in a panicked and weak tone.

"You are not cursed yet, (Y/n)-chan. At least, not yet. Arthur-san will surely look for someone who can disconnect that from you."

"Really...?"

Kiku nodded then helped you up. Now you understand why even you had to be dragged in this mess. The necklace itself could not be pulled out from you.

Seconds later, Alfred joined the two of you.

"Hey."

"Konnichiwa, Alfred-san," Kiku greeted.

"H-hi," you did the same but in a stuttered and nervous way.

"Umm…" Alfred wanted to tell you something but not with Kiku around. The Japanese got this message.

"I will prepare some tea for us." Kiku went to the direction of the kitchen.

Alfred then started, "I already talked with Arthur and you can sleep in your own room tonight."

"O-oh. I-is that so? You don't really have to do that for me," you smiled sheepishly.

Alfred chuckled. "You don't sound happy."

"Oh, no! I'm actually relieved!" You tucked a strand of hair behind your ear embarrassingly.

"Okay."

Arthur witnessed you two conversing with one another yet again. For another odd reason, there was this desperate want. Maybe what Alfred said was right. Maybe Arthur does want to be loved by a woman again. An appropriate woman to be precise.

Still, the British captain of the ship will not fall in love to a woman whom he met so easily for just a day. He never believed in love at first sight. Only the weak experienced that kind of foolish belief.

At least, that was what he learned from a long past experience. When he saw her, he was already mesmerized by her beauty. She was rather eye-catching and that captivated him to be with her only to find out that she was the evil witch that he was looking for. He never hesitated to seal her away but did apologize wholeheartedly. This was an experience that Arthur forgot a long time ago but came back because the necklace had been found.

Arthur cleared his throat to get their attention as he descended from the upper decks.

"I do not know why I keep catching you two talking with one another but it's not like I care," Arthur mockingly said.

Alfred exhaled a breath in annoyance. "What do you want now, Captain?"

Arthur smirked. "What's this about now, Alfred? Are you rather ticked off by my presence? Am I disturbing your little conversation with her?" He then looked at you.

You looked back at him but put your fixed look away quickly. What is his deal now?

"Don't ever think your work is done, love. Why don't you make me some tea and scones?"

You rolled your eyes. So he thinks you did not know how to make a simple afternoon snack? You always prepare your own afternoon snack back home regardless of being nobility.

"As for you, Alfred, why don't you check our supplies? I don't like seeing my crew slacking off."

Alfred quietly grunted. Some sort of mental or emotional strain filled the air. Arthur glanced at the both of you.

"Well? Why are you two still standing? You wanted to do a goodbye kiss?"

The two of you glared at him. You scoffed and scurried yourself away from him as you went to the kitchen. Kiku just came with the tray of tea but paused when he saw you walked out angrily. Alfred just scowled at the blonde and went downstairs to check the supplies. The Japanese man just blinked.

Arthur turned to see the Asian man and saw the traditional tea on a tray he was holding. "Why don't you and Yao just have that tea and let that woman do her work?" Arthur then went off.

Somehow, there was an annoyed tone in his voice. Why does he feel piqued all of a sudden? That was not typical of Arthur and Kiku will perhaps divulge into this.

~Kitchen~

Yao, a Chinese man wearing a long white loosed sleeve robe-like garment with intricate dragon designs, a green traditional trousers beneath it and black Chinese shoes, told you where to get the things needed in cooking, from the variety of food to utensils.

"Also, handle the tea sets with care. Most of them are the Captain's favorite. The last thing you wanted to see is him getting vexed," Yao forewarned.

"Do you make his tea?" you asked out of curiosity.

Yao shook his head. "I may be the cook but I do not make his tea. He makes his own. I only bring in his tea set. He has weird taste. He does not like traditional ones."

You blinked. If he makes his own tea then why did he want you to make his tea for him? That was quite irritating but, hey, you were in a 'pirate' ship not as a guest but one of its crew members. You just thanked Yao and proceeded to make the captain's afternoon snack.

After some time, you were done. The tea was prettily arranged but the scones…

Yes, about the scones… They were kind of… not what you expected. Honestly, you never baked nor cooked before. You can just simply make tea. Usually, your lady-in-waiting was the one doing the baking and the chefs doing the cooking. You huffed. The captain wanted scones but you failed to do them. Will he get angry at you?

Now that you though of it, you would answer him back and that scared you a bit. He may be smiling, smirking and sarcastic but you had no idea what his other 'intentions' may be. You had not have the slightest idea what he is capable of. He may punish you.

But going back to what Kiku said, Arthur is a very respected gentleman.

Well, you would not know, really. Those were the traits that Kiku see but what if it was the other way around?

You really would not know… The best choice you had right now was to actually witness it. You really could not make the scones anymore. Even if you asked for help, you doubt that Yao or Kiku knew how to make one. So was Alfred, too. You just sighed and brought the tray of tea to his quarters.

~In Arthur's quarters~

Arthur was standing, observing the large map that was laid on his desk. There was also a gold compass at the middle, the pointed arrow attached to it swirling then stopping then swirling again.

"Blasted compass… It's not pointing me the exact location," the blonde male mumbled.

He plopped to his chair and ran a hand through his hair. There was a knock on his door and he uttered a, "Go on. Come in."

You entered his room with much difficulty. "Your tea is ready, Captain."

Arthur looked at you with a wry smile and motioned you to put it on the coffee table at the side where a mini library was located. You placed the tray on the said table. You poured the cup with tea, put one cube of sugar and served it to him. You then stood at the center of the room, facing him.

"I'm sorry, sir, but I couldn't make the scones." For some reasons, you were giving him a 'surprised' respect. You have a lot of pride in you but now was not the time for being rebellious. Even if you do want to go home, you could not; not until the necklace around you has been removed. Also, you should be twice as grateful that the crew members here as well as the captain were respectable and trustworthy. That was why they also deserve respect from you. Besides, they did not really kidnap you. They were just trying to help you.

"Is that so?" Arthur stared at you.

You kept your head lowered. You were just standing there, twiddling with your thumbs. You just did not know what more words to say. If he will punish you just because you did not serve him some snack, well, prepare for the worst then.

Arthur stood and approached you slowly. "That's too bad, love. I was looking forward for those scones." He was one inch closer to you and you could feel your cheeks burning up. "I suppose I'll have my snack from you instead~" He lifted your chin and kissed you hungrily but with a gentle touch.

Another odd reason, you actually kissed back. You two brushed your lips with one another. He forced his tongue in your mouth, tasting every bit of it. You could not breathe anymore so you removed from the mesmerizing touch of each other's lips. Arthur placed his forehead to yours and smiled.

"Better than scones~" he cooed.

He locked his emerald eyes to your (e/c) ones. You were speechless before you backed away.

"T-there's some things that I-I need to d-do…!" you stuttered anxiously as you exited his room.

Arthur licked his lip and chuckled.  He then went to his desk and drank the tea you prepared for him.

~Hallway~

You were walking rather weakly. You then halted and leaned your back against the wooden wall. You were breathing heavily. You then touched your lip. Arthur's lip was still tickling your mouth and you could still taste the tea in it. That was actually your first kiss and to think that it turned out to be quite… nice. You kind of liked it, if you had to admit to yourself. It was kind of forceful in a way but at least there was gentleness in it. You could just faint right on. It was a good thing Alfred came to snap you out of your 'dreamy' moment there.

"Hey, (Y/n)."

"Oh…! Hey, Alfred!"

Alfred's eyes narrowed and tilted his head sideways but he had a small smile intact so as not for you to get intimidated. "Are you okay?"

You blinked then responded, "Yeah! I'm totally fine! Why would you say I'm not?"

"Well, it looks like you were stressed out. Did Arthur do something to you?"

You stiffened. You came back to memory lane where Arthur just passionately kissed you a few moments ago. You were quiet all of a sudden.

"(Y/n)?" Alfred called out to you.

You pulled yourself together again and you answered him, "I'm fine! Maybe I am a bit stressed but not because Arthur… I mean, the captain did something bad. I was just… stressed. That's all!" You then grinned.

Alfred slowly nodded. "Oh-kay. I guess that'll convince me for now. I'm actually going to drop by to him to report about the supplies."

"Alright. Umm… I'll see you later then?"

Alfred chuckled happily. "Why not?" The male then went on ahead to the captain's quarters.

You sighed in relief. It seemed that you suddenly had a pain in your head. You wanted to lie down on a soft bed and rest your throbbing head. You searched for your room. Sadly, you were lost. With the many doors, you could not pinpoint where your room was exactly.

"Looking for something, (Y/n)-chan?"

You turned to see Kiku. You could just rejoice now. It was a good thing that he showed up.

"Kiku! It's a good thing you're here! I think I have a headache all of a sudden and I wanted to lie down. I can't find my room."

Kiku was a bit shocked upon hearing that you had a pain in the head. "Oh dear! Follow me then!"

You followed Kiku as you finally reached your room. You plopped on the bed at once. The throbbing was getting worse.

"I'll go prepare some herbal tea. Please lie down for now, (Y/n)-chan. I'll be right back." Kiku was about to exit when you said something.

"Hey, Kiku! This is just a simple headache. Don't tell the Captain. Promise me."

Kiku turned and inclined his head, indicating that he promises. You smiled and laid down permanently.

The journey ahead would be perilous. More pirates would be along the way and perhaps, the navy, too. Whoever and whatever would you be encountering, it will be best to be prepared head on. You will have to learn to fight, too. You did not want to become the damsel in distress. You are tough and you will fight for whatever will be coming your path.

To be continued…
